Levent KURT, PhD

I am an Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychology at Istanbul Kent University and a psychotherapist, trainer and consultant in my private practice in Tekirdağ / Çorlu.

After receiving my Bachelor's Degree in Psychological Counseling from Bosphorus University in 2008, I completed my Master's degree in Applied Psychology at Istanbul Commerce University and my Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology at Istanbul Arel University.

Between 2011 and 2016, I completed my Couple and Family Therapy training at Istanbul Family Therapy Institute (IFTI), under the instruction of Dr. Murat Dokur, Prof. Rodolfo de Bernart, Prof. Dr. Howard Liddle, Dr. Kyriaki Polychroni, and Prof. Dr. Peter Stratton. Upon completion, I began practicing as a couple and family therapist certified by the European Family Therapy Association (EFTA).

I have received training in addiction counseling and completed a clinical internship with Prof. Dr. Kultegin Ögel and at Moodist Hospital. I also completed basic and advanced transactional analysis training from the Turkish Transactional Analysis Association, cognitive behavioral therapies for children and adolescents from Dr. Maria Ceu Salvador, neuropsychological assessment from Dr. Tamer Ergin, and solution-focused psychotherapy from Dr. Nevin Dölek. Additionally, I have training in psychometrics, covering Child Development Assessment, Intelligence, Personality, and Belbin Team Roles.

Throughout my professional development, I have received supervision in various psychotherapy approaches, including psychoanalytic, cognitive-behavioral psychotherapies, and systemic and dynamic couple and family therapy.

From 2008 to 2023, I worked in various positions at schools such as SEV American College, Irmak Schools, and Istanbul Erkek Liseliler Education Foundation schools. My roles included Counseling Department Coordinator, Head of the Child Protection Team, Psychological Counselor, and Education Specialist.

Since 2023, I have been teaching courses at the Istanbul Kent University Psychology Department, including Psychopathology, Developmental Psychology, Selected Topics in Clinical Psychology, and Introduction to Cognitive and Behavioral Therapies, in both English and Turkish.

From 2023 to 2025, I served as the Head of the Psychology Department at Istanbul Kent University.

Adopting the scientist-practitioner model, I conduct research on topics such as relationship satisfaction in couples, factors affecting psychological well-being, and addictions.

Drawing on my experience and expertise in psychological counseling and education since 2008, I provide psychological counseling services, psychological assessment and evaluation services and trainings for adolescents, young adults, and adults, psychology experts as well as for families and couples.

I am a member of the Boğaziçi University Alumni Association (BUMED) and the Couple and Family Therapy Association (ÇATED).
